Clicker Evaluation Mandate

To convene an evaluation committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students to engage in a number of investigative and exploratory tasks. The mission of the committee is to determine whether our current Clicker (“Student Response System”) solution supports the diverse instructional needs of our campus or if we should consider alternatives/other vendors. As our present clicker solution has been in place for over 6 years, we believe this time offers the campus the opportunity to review the technology, the support, and the cost to our students. The recommendation of the committee is to advocate if a change is deemed necessary, that this occur in the next academic year from when the decision was taken. If the decision is to stay, then the committee will advocate for changes to strengthen the process and the tool.

Process:

  • Complete a Clicker Satisfaction Survey (faculty and students)
  • Identify and invite faculty/staff/students to become members of the committee
  • Identify clicker usage across the campus (clicker data)
  • Develop a FAQ site about the Clicker Evaluation (check the Teaching with Clickers project course for examples)
  • Provide updates via the CTL website
  • Review present Clicker solution and current issues encountered
  • Review Accessibility requirements
  • Identify potential vendors and alternatives (no more than 4 software solutions)
  • View vendor demonstrations of their clicker/mobile app solution
  • Provide updates to academic and administrative units
  • Make decision by Tuesday, January 31, 2017
