Opscan

Opscan (Optical Mark Reading) at UNC Charlotte may be more commonly known in other institutions as Bubble Sheet testing.

  • Where: Atkins 139B (main floor). A map to the Opscan office.
  • Hours:
    • Monday-Friday
    • 8:30am-12:15pm and 12:45pm-3pm
      • Exams dropped off before 11am can be picked up between 1pm-3pm.
      • Exams dropped off after 11am can be picked up the next business day between 9am-11am.
      • All jobs, with the exception of SOAR, will be processed on a first come, first serve basis.

Opscan Services Include:

  1. Test Scoring - provide scoring of standard answer sheets for test/exams.
  2. Create data files - Scan standard answer sheets and build data files.
  3. Faculty Evaluations - Process students evaluations for the faculty each semester.
  4. SOAR - Student orientation, advising and registration: student placement exams are scanned and uploaded into the University's student information systems databases.
  5. Vehicle Registration - Build data files for Parking Services to assist them with updating vehicle registration information.

Opscan Test Scoring Procedures:

A scannable header sheet (Opscan Test Scoring Control Sheet) is required as the cover sheet for test scoring. The control sheet is re-usable. Please fill out or update the control sheet if anything changes, otherwise the scoring will be incorrect.

The Opscan Test Scoring Control Sheet can be purchased from Stores (item #0943).

Test results will be on 8½ x 11 cut sheet paper.
