Inclusive Learning and Teaching Practices

In this workshop, Nona McDuff, Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Kingston University, will assist faculty in the development and implementation of course and curricular goals for understanding diversity.  Attendees will discuss inclusive strategies as they apply to three key areas of the teaching and learning practice:  Course Content, Teaching Styles, and Assessment.  

The goals of this workshop are to:

  • Examine debates/drivers of diversity and inclusion in Higher Education
  • Raise awareness of unconscious bias and its impact on learning and teaching
  • Explore the principles of  inclusive learning and teaching through the example of Kingston University’s institutional Inclusive Curriculum Framework
  • Discuss with student curriculum consultants how to effectively promote student involvement in curriculum design and delivery
  • Reflect upon the relevance of Kingston’s inclusive curriculum framework to learning and teaching practice at UNC Charlotte
