Canvas Foundations (Online 9/6 - 9/13)

Work through exercises and activities to learn the most essential Canvas features for teaching...in a convenient asynchronous format! You will be guided through daily activities to learn key Canvas tools.

Course Format

This is a one week asynchronous course that is facilitated by Jessica Kapota, CTL Instructional Designer. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants.  Participants will read material on their own and engage in daily exercises that will take approximately 2-3 hours a day. The course facilitator will monitor the discussion board, answer questions, and guide participants through the activities.

Course Objectives

  • Learn to navigate the Canvas interface: icons, pages, profile

  • Learn to create your course homepage and add/ organize content

  • Learn how to use assessment tools: assignments, rubrics, quizzes

  • Learn how to use the gradebook: setup your gradebook and use the handy Speedgrader tool

  • Learn best practices for each Canvas tool

Is this course right for you?

This is a course for instructors who have never taught in Canvas before. The interactive daily assignments will take approximately 2-3 hours a day, in a guided, easy-to-follow format.  You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Those who complete all acitivites successfully will also earn an hour consultation with a CTL Instructional Designer!
