A core value of the First-Year Writing Program at UNC Charlotte is equipping students with flexible strategies for composing texts in a myriad of writing situations they will encounter in both their college life and beyond. In addition to helping students craft better academic texts, the First-Year Writing program also encourages students to write across modes, situations and media by incorporating a multi-modal approach to the teaching and practice of writing.
This webinar will provide a short overview of Sound-writing pedagogy in First-Year Writing and then move into the practical application of Podcasting for First-Year writing students. Participants will gain insight into how to create, edit and share a Podcast. You'll also engage in a discussion about how Podcasting can be used as a vehicle to transfer skills across disciplines and beyond First-Year Writing.
Justin Cary, Lecturer in the First-Year Writing program, will lead the Webinar. His areas of expertise include writing with technology, social media and digital literacy. He's currently researching the effects of video game theory and principles on student motivation in the classroom.
NOTE: This Webinar will be held online using WebEx, the University's Web conferencing system. You will need access to the Internet, and a microphone if you want to speak.
